Description

Winchester, Model 1892 HALF NICKEL, CAL: 38 WCF, MFG: 1894, SN: 24253, Lever Action Rifle, 24 1/4'' Octagon barrel. Full mag. This gun presents as an early 3rd year half nickel rifle, special ordered with double set triggers. It comes with a Cody Museum Winchester Factory Records Look-up sheet which confirms the dates, caliber & double set trigger configuration. The nickel finish was part of a later finish restoration, which reblued the barrel & nickeled the receiver, lever, forend cap & mag retention lug. The original straight grip wood stocks are very good, with numerous minor contusions, scrapes & scratches to the original finish, with some added protective finish. There is a small missing chip at the right lower wrist corner. The metal blue finish on barrel & mag rates 85%, with areas of thinning starting to tone to a brown patina. The nickeled receiver, lever & parts is excellent, without chipping or flaking. Bore is very good, but with areas of roughness amongst thinning rifling. The rifle is fitted with an adjustable rear sight & Rocky Mountain blade front sight. Buttstock carries a smooth crescent metal buttplate. Smooth tight action. A very nice appearance on this nicely configured rifle. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1500 to 3000
